Cleure Founder Finds Natural Skin Care Products Not the Right Choice for Sensitive Skin

Cleure has focused on formulating sensitive skin care products for over 20 years.  Founder Dr. Flora Parsa Stay, a leader in the health and wellness community says that just because something is natural, does not mean it's good for you, especially for those with sensitive skin.

Sensitive skin has several different causes as well as a lot of different ways that it can manifest itself. For most, it is a certain ingredient or ingredients in their natural skin care products that are creating the problems, meaning that the best way to deal with them is to use a skin care product that does not include those ingredients. Sensitive skin formulas are also a problem for the same reason, because they often have so called natural ingredients that may irritate the skin just as much as more commonly known irritants.

When you get ready to invest in sensitive skin skincare products, you need to inform yourself on all the things that may irritate the skin, so that the products you buy will genuinely be as gentle as possible and offer you the best skin care without all of the issues. Natural skin care products are frequently thought to be superior and more capable of offering irritation free skin care. The problem with natural skin care is that since an ingredient is natural does not mean that it will not create irritation. There are several products in nature that individuals are allergic to or that can irritate skin, so to assume that natural means better is simply not true.

If you are using skin care because they contain herbs, extracts or essential oils, and just assume that your skin is naturally that dry or will constantly be itchy it might be time to read the ingredients label on your skin care products and learn about the side effects of the particular herb, extract or essential oil. There are several various natural plant ingredients that can cause red skin, itching, acne and rashes.  Medline Plus is one website that offers accurate, science based information on side effects of plants.

Although claiming "natural", herbal and plant ingredients are often soaked with preservatives to ward off fungus.  Pesticides may also have been used while growing the plant.  Most consumers don't consider these facts with the word "natural" on the label.

Several “natural products” labels indicate they are preservative free.  If a product is completely natural, it stands to reason that it may have to be refrigerated or have a very limited expiration date.  Unless, of course, it does have preservatives.

Many of these same herbs in products may cause irritation to the skin of those that have very sensitive skin. The same is true for salicylic acid, an ingredient that is in a large number of products from skin care to toothpaste and several brands of makeup. It is utilized as an anti-inflammatory as well as being a part of several herbal ingredients. Salicylic acid is highly irritating to a large number of people as well as an extreme allergy for some.

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (SLS) is an additional ingredient found in natural skin care products that can be very irritating and cause complications for your skin. This is the ingredient that is used to make your shampoo or toothpaste foam, and is used as well in cleaners and soaps. Sodium lauryl sulfate can cause dry skin and can irritate your skin making it itchy and red.

Many people with sensitive skin assume there are not many choices for the treatment of their skin. Many of them have used every sensitive skin formula on the market, while others have tried a wide range of natural skin care products. A few start to believe their skin is the real problem and continue to usebuy irritating products causing them to continue to cause severe damage to their skin.

On the other end of the spectrum, a few can quit using skin care products altogether thinking that there just isn’t anything on the market that their skin can use. This might not necessarily hurt your skin but at the same time it can stop you from looking your best.

It is extremely rare to find a company that is salicylate free and herbal free, but provides high quality, affordable sensitive skin care products.  One such brand is Cleure, which means clean and pure.
